Are you a compassionate and motivated individual looking to make a significant difference in the lives of students with additional needs? We are seeking a Specialist Learning Mentor to join a vibrant Primary School in Westcliff-on-Sea. This full-time, temporary to permanent role offers an incredible opportunity to support students with SEND/SEMH needs, fostering their academic, social, and emotional development.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to provide tailored support to children, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide individual and group support to students, promoting confidence and independence in their learning.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCo, and pastoral staff to implement tailored strategies and interventions.
* Facilitate and lead SEND/SEMH intervention groups for identified students.
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, acting as a key point of contact for parents and carers.
* Monitor and record progress, maintaining accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
* Support students during break and lunch times, encouraging positive social interactions and behaviours.
* Assist with the transition of children into mainstream classes when appropriate.
* Employ behaviour management strategies and positive reinforcement techniques to support student engagement and well-being.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience working with children with SEND/SEMH needs in an educational setting.
* Training or knowledge of therapeutic approaches such as nurture or Team Teach.
* Familiarity with EHCPs and risk assessments for children with additional needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A proactive, empathetic, and patient approach to supporting children.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
