Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join one of care homes as cook.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals, snacks, and beverages according to planned menus and residents' dietary needs.
Ensure meals are appealing, nutritious, and served on time.
Follow dietary guidelines for residents with specific health conditions (e.g., diabetes, low-sodium, texture-modified diets).
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, storage, and dining areas according to health and safety standards.
Monitor stock levels, rotate supplies, and inform management of shortages or required orders.
Safely operate kitchen equipment and ensure proper food storage, labeling, and temperature control.
Adhere to infection control and food safety policies.
Work collaboratively with care staff to accommodate residents' preferences and special requests.
Supervise and guide kitchen assistants or support staff
Skills & Qualities
Strong cooking and food preparation skills.
Knowledge of dietary requirements and food safety regulations.
Ability to plan menus and adapt recipes for special diets.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Team player with strong communication skills.
Compassion and respect for elderly residents.
Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience as a cook or chef, ideally in a care home, healthcare, or hospitality setting.
Food Hygiene and Safety certification (required or willingness to obtain).
Knowledge of nutrition and special diets (preferred).

Pay: £16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 per week
