Job Title Site Manager Location Northeast England, England Salary Competitive Rate outside IR35 Work Opportunity Contract Introduction We're on the lookout for a skilled Construction Manager to join our team and help deliver large-scale solar developments-each generating over 90MW of clean energy. You'll play a key role in overseeing the safe and high-quality construction of these projects, including connections to the local DNO network. From managing contractors on-site to ensuring everything runs smoothly, safely, and to the highest standards, you'll be right at the heart of it all. What will I be doing? Champion safety and quality on site - Ensure health and safety standards are always met through regular, sensible monitoring and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Make sure quality procedures and ITPs are followed to the letter. Oversee contractor performance - Monitor all work to ensure it meets contractual and quality expectations. Identify any non-conformances or deviations from the schedule, design, or environmental standards-and take the lead in flagging and resolving them. Drive progress and reporting - Provide daily updates to the Senior Project Manager, including activity rates, progress vs. BOQ, and accurate forecasting to keep everything on track. Support technical and contractual excellence - Offer clear guidance to internal teams on technical, budget, and contractual matters. Draft corrective actions for contractor deviations and help maintain alignment across engineering, procurement, and construction phases. Lead stakeholder communication and knowledge sharing - Act as the point of contact for local stakeholders and landowners when needed. Share lessons learned and best practices to strengthen team performance across current and future projects. What do I need to succeed? Solid experience in solar and utility construction - You've spent 5-10 years on-site as a Site Manager, Supervisor, or Owner's Representative, with hands-on experience in Substations delivering Solar PV, BESS, ICP,IPP or other utility-scale projects in the UK. Strong technical and safety knowledge - You know the ins and outs of the development and construction process, HSE regulations, CDM requirements, and high-voltage transmission/distribution safety procedures. Confident communicator and site lead - Whether it's welcoming executive teams or technical stakeholders for site visits, you're comfortable representing the project and leading with professionalism. Qualified and competent - You hold an HNC/D or equivalent Level 4/5 qualification, along with IOSH or NEBOSH certification and a valid CSCS card (or equivalent). Tech-savvy and organised - Proficient with Microsoft Office tools like SharePoint, Excel, Word, and Project, you know how to stay on top of reporting, documentation, and collaboration.
