The opportunity
S&J Polythene & Paper is growing its polythene category, and we’re hiring a Sales Executive to win new distributor business across the Midlands and South of England. This is a new‑business focused role where you’ll build a pipeline, open new accounts, and turn first orders into long‑term, repeat trade.
You’ll have the freedom to run your territory your way, backed by an experienced National Sales Manager for coaching, joint calls on priority targets, and commercial support. It suits someone who’s self‑motivated, organised, and enjoys being accountable for results.
You’ll focus on our core range of polythene bags, bin liners and waste sacks, selling into the Away From Home distributor market.
What you’ll be selling
* Bin liners, refuse sacks and waste sacks (different duty levels, gauges, colours and formats)
* Core polythene bag ranges and, where relevant, bespoke formats for distributor customers
* Repeat supply programmes that drive consistent re‑order volume
Who you’ll be selling to
* Janitorial and hygiene distributors
* Catering and foodservice packaging distributors (AFH channels)
* Regional independents and multi‑branch distributors across the Midlands and South
What you’ll be doing
* Identify, target and win new distributor customers across the Midlands and South
* Build a steady pipeline through outbound prospecting, visits, referrals and trade events
* Run the sales cycle end to end: discovery, range presentation, quotes, trials, close and onboarding
* Convert trials into repeat purchasing and expand range adoption over time
* Keep CRM up to date with activity, opportunities, next steps and forecasts
* Work closely with the National Sales Manager to agree target accounts, territory priorities and commercial approach
* Support the National Sales Manager when needed on key opportunities, customer meetings, tenders and internal projects
What we’re looking for
* Proven ability to win new business in a B2B environment (sales, business development, or distribution‑led sectors)
* Must have knowledge of polythene products, ideally including bags, bin liners and waste sacks
* Confidence speaking to decision makers and handling objections
* Organised, consistent, and motivated by targets and progress
* Commercially aware and comfortable discussing pricing and value
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the territory
