Job Description

Specialist Secondary Provision

Pay: £88.92 – £100 per day (dependent on experience)

Location: Wirral

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm (Full-Time)

About the School & Role Overview

This specialist provision supports pupils aged 11–19 with complex learning needs within a purpose-built environment designed to promote independence, communication, and engagement.

As a Learning Mentor, you will provide personalised support to pupils with significant cognitive difficulties, communication needs, sensory processing differences, and associated behavioural challenges. You will work closely with teaching staff and specialist professionals to ensure pupils feel safe, supported, and able to access learning.

The role requires patience, consistency, and resilience. You will contribute to implementing personalised learning plans, supporting emotional regulation strategies, and promoting independence and life skills development. Every day offers the opportunity to make a genuine and lasting impact on young people’s progress and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support
• Assist with implementation of EHCP targets
• Support communication, independence, and life skills
• Implement behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
• Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams
• Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs (school or care setting)
• Calm, adaptable, and nurturing approach
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Understanding of behaviour as communication
• Passion for supporting vulnerable young people
