UK Export Finance is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to provide expert, in‑house legal advice on all employment law matters across the organisation. This is a high‑impact role where your expertise will directly support strategic decision‑making, safeguard legal compliance, and help shape a fair, consistent and legally robust people culture.
As a core member of the Legal Division—UKEF's in‑house legal function—you will work closely with HR, senior leaders and specialist teams, providing authoritative guidance on the full spectrum of UK employment law.
The successful candidate will advise on employment contracts, policies, disciplinary matters, grievances, redundancies and restructures, ensuring compliance with evolving legislation and best practice. You'll monitor regulatory changes and translate them into clear, actionable guidance for stakeholders.
You will draft, review and update employment contracts, handbooks and workplace policies, and negotiate settlement agreements and severance arrangements. You will also manage Employment Tribunal claims, lead on dispute resolution, and liaise with external counsel where needed.
The role also includes advising on employment aspects of wider departmental transactions, organisational change programmes, and mergers or restructures. You'll identify emerging legal risks and propose mitigation strategies to protect the organisation.
You will develop and deliver employment law training to HR and management, support internal investigations, and contribute to compliance initiatives. From time to time, you may also advise on broader legal matters—including public law, procurement, international agreements and information law—aligned with organisational needs.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled employment law specialist with strong contentious and non‑contentious experience, excellent judgement, and the ability to navigate sensitive, complex issues with clarity and confidence.
If you're looking for a role where your expertise truly shapes organisational outcomes, we'd love to hear from you.
