Our client is a dynamic and highly regarded regional firm seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join their Dispute Resolution team, based in either Exeter or Torquay. With a strong local and regional profile and an impressive client base, the firm has experienced significant growth over the past few years and is now one of the largest practices in Devon and Somerset.
The firm has offices in South Devon, North Devon, and Exeter, and prides itself on collaboration and a ‘low hierarchy’ environment that encourages individuals to aspire and progress at their own pace.
About the role
As part of the Employment team within Dispute Resolution, you will handle a variety of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including:
* Settlement agreements
* Discrimination claims
* Redundancy, TUPE, and business reorganization
* Grievance and disciplinary procedures
* Drafting contracts and policies
* Contracts for self-employed and casual workers
* Employment rights
You will provide high-quality, informed legal advice and representation across employment law matters. Additionally, you should have experience in:
* Negotiating settlements and representing clients in mediation, conciliation, and other dispute resolution processes
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships, delivering exceptional service, and fostering trust
* Conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and preparing cases for hearings and tribunals
* Staying updated with developments in employment law and contributing to the firm’s legal services improvements

About You
You should have several years of post-qualification experience as an Employment Lawyer in a regional or national firm, confident in managing a varied caseload. You are well-organized, efficient, and committed to delivering excellent client service. Your client care skills and experience in managing expectations are highly developed.
You are motivated to engage in business development and have begun building your profile regionally. The firm values your ideas for marketing, thought leadership, and networking to support business growth.
Collaborative and team-oriented, you enjoy working in an office environment but also value flexibility and remote work. You are supportive of colleagues, share knowledge, and are eager to learn new systems. Good IT skills and organization are essential.
