Key responsibilities of the role are summarised below:
1. Define the architecture for high profile, public facing,ernment, and private sector projects, including providing architectural and technical leadership
2. Define data strategy, data migration approach, data integration approach, data models and data design for any given client
3. Investigate and thoroughly understand the current live applications and systems at any given client site
4. Ensure that the scope, context and constraints are documented and accepted
5. Define and document strategies, standards and guidelines to direct the build and deployment of systems
6. Ensure that agreed upon architectural principles and standards are applied to the finished system or product
7. Define a strategic Data Model across the enterprise and products
8. Propose technical solutions for storing data in distributed systems
9. Create a model that works for small micro-services as well as big-data storage solutions in line with national infrastructure standards and frameworks
10. Line manage, mentor, train and develop others
Qualifications:
You will have a strong architecture and software engineering background, have led teams of engineers or other architects and be able to contribute to our internal data strategy and thought leadership
In addition you will have:
11. Experience with defining data strategy, data migration approach, data integration approach
12. Experience being a hands on data architect (only when needed with programme languages Java, Scala and Python)
13. Experience with Big Data technologies
14. Experience with AWS and services
15. Experience with both open source and vendor data platforms.
16. Experience with data architecture, architectural concepts, methodologies and approaches.
17. Experience with microservices architecture
18. Experience of designing for both structured and unstructured data
19. An understanding of non-functional drivers for design
20. Experience with data modelling
21. Strong background in Java and REST Services - ability to design solutions as well as review code

Whilst having experience in a consultancy is beneficial, demonstrable experience in working with clients/external partners in other settings will always be considered.
