Development is just cool, right?

It goes from lines of code on a screen to an interactive piece, either on an application or on a website. We’ve come a long way from how we started (the author of this advert remembers websites from the 90s, oh boy!) and there is no field where making cool sh*t that functions well is more pressing and relevant than in e-Commerce.

No, seriously. We all think its gaming, and whilst they are indeed making some truly belter stuff (although we’re gonna leave out all the bugs in the latest Pokemon game)- but so do we, in a very different space with a totally different application.

It seems like a much smaller scale, yes, but think about how the world has changed. Ever since the dark age of 2020, retailers of all types have really wisened up to the need for an effective e-Commerce platform.

But most retailers, given how wide and diverse the sector is, don’t have the skills to make something that aligns with their brand, their vision, or that can make the journey for their customer the best experience they could want. Not to mention they don’t know how to make other systems talk to each other, they don’t know how to get out all the sexy lil bits of metadata to help inform long term decisions… so that’s why they work with us.

Who are we?

We’re Quickfire Digital - an Award-winning eCommerce focused development agency, specialising in Shopify builds. We’re a busy agency and with ambitious growth plans and a customer base that ranges from traditional retailers who require a complete management service through to some properly weird and wonderful businesses who want a seamless way to get people to buy their products.

We’re looking for two front-end developers to join our team. Let us tell you what the job is, who we’re looking for, and why you wanna work with us.

What is the job?

We are looking for someone who wants to go beyond just grinding out code. Our developers are very involved in discussing our projects and progress with clients, and whilst you can’t shake away from the fact that you, yes, will be building websites on Shopify, we are also diversifying into application development and a few other fun areas when the project is right for the studio.

In a nutshell though, your duties and responsibilities will be…

* Website builds for Shopify / Shopify Plus platforms
* Assisting the Development team with all aspects of software design and coding.
* Attending and contributing to company development meetings
* Learning the codebase and improving your coding skills
* Writing and maintaining code
* Must provide code documentation with your work
* Working on bug fixes
* Responding to requests from the head of development and/or project management team to provide estimations and project milestone updates.
* Responding to request from clients

Who are we looking for?

We get it. A £15K salary banding looks wild, like we’re shooting blind. But in reality, as we’re recruiting two vacancies we could be hiring someone stepping from junior developer to mid-career, or someone stepping up into a senior developer role for the first time- so we’re casting a wide net here.

We need good, effective and competent developers who can hit the ground running and add some value, as these are growth roles for us to keep up with the demand for our services.

In terms of some high level information though, we’re after…

* Knowledge of front-end coding languages including CSS, HTML, JavaScript is essential.
* Knowledge and experience with Vue JS or React are highly desirable.
* Shopify Liquid Experience would be great, but we are confident we can teach a competent front-end developer.
* Experience with Vanilla would be a huge plus, but not essential.
* An understanding of PHP (yeah we know it’s more back end, it’s handy for migrations though!) is highly beneficial but not essential.
* Experience working on agency projects clearing backlog, picking up projects at different stages and managing to completion
* Someone with experience working with a team of varied skill and experience level- we know this can be stressful when work is being sprinted on, so understanding this environment is key for your happiness and success
* Naturally… you’ve gotta be au fait with working with wikis, slack etc.

What’s in it for you?

Lets get this out of the way early - we’re not Meta or Google. We cannot pay huge, enormous salaries. But nor do you have the horrible bounty on your head that goes with that.

We offer you…

* A genuinely competitive salary for the Norfolk tech scene. We did the research.
* Hybrid working (3 in office, 2 at home- but we can negotiate!)
* The opportunity to travel, attend company events and get out visiting clients- adventures await!
* Enhanced holiday entitlement.
* Private medical cover. Even as a small business, we’ve got benefits.
* Company pension.
* A bustling social events calendar, and an office environment rammed with treats. We get a lot of swag sent to us.
* Half-yearly salary reviews, with regular reward and incentives.
* The best biscuit drawer in all of Norfolk. We’ll die on this hill.

What is our interview process?

* A chat with our Head of People. This is so you can ask her everything you need to know, and so you can decide if we’re the place for you.
* A competency interview with our Head of Development and one of our Senior Developers.
* A final stage interview with one of our co-founders, including a potential technical assessment.
* Then we offer. You say yes. We skip into the sunset together. It’s lovely.

Apply today, we’re looking forward to hearing from you.

PS- we cannot and do not offer Visa sponsorship at this time. Please be aware of this.
