About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Bank Cook to join our friendly care home team at Heaton House Care Home. As a Bank Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals for our residents, supporting their health, wellbeing, and enjoyment of mealtimes. This is a flexible position where you'll provide cover during staff absences, holidays, or busy periods.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook meals to meet residents' dietary needs and preferences.
* Ensure meals are presented attractively and served on time.
* Follow all food hygiene, safety, and infection control standards.
* Work with the Home Manager and care team to plan menus that are varied, seasonal, and nutritious.
* Manage stock levels, rotate supplies, and minimise waste.
* Keep the kitchen and equipment clean, tidy, and well maintained.
* Follow residents' individual care plans regarding allergies, special diets, and cultural/religious requirements.
About You
* Previous experience as a cook, ideally in a care home, hospital, school, or similar setting.
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate required).
* Ability to cook for large groups while maintaining high standards.
* Flexible and reliable, with a positive attitude to teamwork.
* Compassionate and respectful, with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people.
