Please note: This is a fixed term position for 6 months Working hours: 22.5 hours per week (Mon to Fri work pattern) Interview Date: To be confirmed Job Summary: Pottergate ARC (Advice and Refreshment Centre) is a drop-in centre for those who are Rough-sleeping, Homeless and Vulnerable. The Arc has been holding a breakfast programme for over 15 years. This programme plays a major part of The Salvation Army's mission activities, bringing together individuals and offering fellowship, company, and good food. We are looking for a highly motivated individual as our Cook who wants to be part of a growing team. The successful applicant will prepare and cook good quality food for the programme customers, in an effective catering service. Key Responsibilities: The post-holder will cook to order a breakfast service and occasionally plan healthy and nutritious menus that are cost-effective for the service, considering any nutritional and dietary requirements and customer opinion. The post-holder will ensure that current health and safety, environmental health and hygiene standards, and other appropriate regulations and procedures are maintained within the catering facility (e.g., BFH / COSHH) and that food storage is carried out to approved British standards. Leaving everything clean and tidy. The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate: Good knowledge and experience in preparing and serving food in a commercial kitchen environment. Ability to influence others and develop effective working relationships with colleagues, programme participants and external stakeholders. Ability to understand the community’s needs and has proficiency in English. Ability to supervise the work of Assistants and Volunteers and provide training where necessary in collaboration with the Corps Officer.
