Role Purpose
This role provides essential administrative and practical HR support across our nursery group, ensuring people processes run smoothly and consistently. Acting as a key point of contact for day-to-day HR queries, the role is primarily focused on maintaining accurate records, coordinating HR processes, and supporting managers with clear, practical guidance on employee relations matters.
A significant part of the role involves payroll administration, including the timely and accurate submission of timesheets, supporting managers with payroll-related queries, and ensuring employee data is correctly maintained. The postholder will also oversee the administration of annual leave records and ensure systems are kept up to date.
This position would suit someone with experience in an operational HR or HR administration role who enjoys working methodically, providing clear guidance, and ensuring processes are followed accurately within a busy, multi-site environment. Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload effectively are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Operational HR & Employee Relations
* Act as the primary point of contact for all operational HR matters across the nursery group.
* Work with our external HR advisors Peninsula to ensure HR compliance and alignment with company policies and procedures.
· Draft, develop and update people policies and procedures.
* Support in managing employee relations cases.
* Deal with day-to-day HR queries from colleagues, liaising with internal support functions as required.
Payroll & Systems
* Manage timely and accurate submission of timesheets for payroll processing.
* Be competent and confident in payroll-related matters.
* Oversee annual leave records.
* Work closely with nursery management teams to ensure accurate and timely maintenance of employee data
Recruitment, Projects & Change
* Support recruitment processes in close collaboration with the nursery management and marketing team.
* Lead or contribute to ad hoc HR projects as required.
* Work collaboratively with wider teams on HR initiatives and projects.
Personal Attributes, Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
* Demonstrable experience in a generalist, operational HR role, ideally within an early year, education, or multi-site environment
* Proven experience of managing complex employee relations matters independently
* Knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
* Outstanding attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Strong conflict resolution skills and the confidence to manage sensitive situations effectively
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, professional relationships with employees at all levels
* Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgement at all times
* Willingness to travel occasionally between nursery sites
