The Internal Recruiter is responsible for delivering a high quality, end to end recruitment service across contractor and operational roles within RSS Infrastructure. The role partners closely with Heads of Department to attract, assess, and onboard compliant workers across safety critical, operational, and head office positions, supporting both immediate hiring needs and the wider resourcing strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Partnership & Workforce Support
Act as a trusted recruitment partner to Heads of Department, providing advice and guidance on all aspects of contractor and operational recruitment.
Support recruitment planning in line with business priorities, project demands, and workforce strategy.
Manage vacancies from authorisation through to onboarding, ensuring alignment with governance and approval processes.
Attraction, Sourcing & Employer Branding
Create and manage vacancy adverts, ensuring content is appropriate for the chosen media, including job boards, social media, and the company careers page.
Actively source candidates through online platforms, LinkedIn, social media, referrals, and direct approaches, engaging both active and passive talent pools.
Administer and maintain the company’s LinkedIn and Facebook pages to promote vacancies and enhance employer brand visibility.
Support the planning and delivery of open days, recruitment events, and job fairs to promote employment opportunities with RSS Infrastructure.
Selection & Interviewing
Shortlist candidates against agreed role profiles and hiring manager requirements.
Conduct pre‑screen telephone interviews, providing clear feedback and recommendations to hiring managers.
Schedule interviews and conduct interviews where required.
Ensure candidates and hiring managers are kept fully informed throughout all stages of the recruitment process, delivering a positive candidate experience.
Compliance, Onboarding & Contracts
Issue zero‑hour contracts, ensuring appropriate authorisation is obtained from Directors and Heads of Department.
Complete new starter registration packs and enter them on the system, ensuring full compliance, including right to work checks and competency verification.
Coordinate drug & alcohol testing and medicals for applicable workers, ensuring results are communicated in line with policy and legislation.
Maintain accurate recruitment and compliance records in line with data protection and internal audit requirements.
Ensure accurate documentation of the competencies matrix
Skills & Experience
Essential
Proven experience in an internal recruitment, resourcing, or in‑house talent role.
Experience recruiting for operational, technical, or contractor‑based roles across multiple locations.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and advise senior managers.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple vacancies simultaneously.
Confident communicator with strong interview and candidate engagement skills.
Knowledge of right to work requirements and recruitment compliance.
Desirable
Experience within infrastructure, rail, construction, or safety‑critical environments.
Knowledge of Sentinel.
Familiarity with high‑volume or contractor recruitment models.
Experience supporting employer branding or social media recruitment campaigns.
