We’re seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer with a strong React/TypeScript background, passionate about crafting exceptional AI product experiences. You will own the user‑facing layer of our next‑generation Developer Productivity platform at Citi, transforming complex AI capabilities— from chat interfaces to rich data visualisations—into intuitive, trustworthy experiences. You will collaborate closely with other AI and Software Engineers, and the Product team to leverage bleeding‑edge Generative AI.
Where you’ll work
You’ll sit within Development Enablement, part of Citi’s CTO organisation. The group focuses on innovation, developer platforms and internal tools used across the bank, where we experiment and ship fast, like a startup inside a global bank. Our mission is to transform developer productivity, saving engineers tens of minutes per day, equating to millions of savings at Citi’s scale.
Your first 90 days
* Release to production a small new or enhanced AI‑first user interface that positively impacts thousands of Software Engineers and Business Analysts.
* Raise the bar in our React.JS codebase by improving componentisation, testing and Storybook.
* Establish an internal network of UI engineers to share best practices.
* Secure buy‑in from the team on architectural principles, ways of working and system requirements, ensuring fast, responsive UI behaviour.
By the end of your first year
* Own and champion best practices for interaction design within the team, and establish clear guidelines for AI‑specific UX patterns.
* Mentor junior engineers on best practices for designing and implementing AI‑driven user interfaces.
* Design and implement production‑grade features for AI solutions.
* Contribute AI‑specific UX expertise to solve challenging problems.
* Help scope and plan future AI development work.
* Expand our suite of evaluation metrics and techniques to simplify Agentic‑AI development.
* Maintain consistent interactions with Engineering Leads across the CTO to unblock shipping to production.
* Represent Developer Enablement on multiple occasions with stakeholders on AI‑specific UX.
What will you bring
* 5‑10+ years of experience building modern frontend applications with React and TypeScript.
* Proficiency in JavaScript and state‑management libraries (Redux, Context API, Zustand).
* Experience with component‑based development and Storybook.
* Ability to implement streaming and real‑time experiences (e.g., word/token streaming, live updates, progress indicators).
* Strong understanding of frontend architectures, state management, performance optimisation and responsive design.
* Hands‑on experience with tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, Vercel AI SDK, or Google ADK.
* Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Tekton, ArgoCD or Harness.
Tools and technologies you might use
* React, TypeScript, Next.js/Vite, Storybook, internal design systems, LangChain, Vercel AI SDK, LangGraph, Google ADK.
* Platform agnostic: Mac or PC.
* Access to AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and Cognition.ai’s Devin.
