Site Manager — Waste Transfer Station
Location: Goole, DN14 8BJ
Salary: £45,000 annual salary
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday-45 hours per week
Holiday Allowance: 30 days pro rata and increasing to 35 days after 5 years service
The opportunity
We are a leading waste management company seeking a proven Site Manager to run the day-to-day operations at our Goole site. The site operates an Environmental Permit covering waste transfer operations (non-hazardous and hazardous) and a concrete block manufacturing process. You will lead safe, efficient production, representing the site confidently with regulators, and deliver against plan, development milestones and capacity targets. You will report to the Group Director.
Key responsibilities
* Act as the site's primary point of contact, coordinating with Group Operations Management and peer sites.
* Monitor and control stockpiles and material flows through production to meet quality and tonnage targets.
* Operate processing equipment and mobile plant when required to maintain throughput and standards.
* Ensure full compliance with the Environmental Permit, environmental legislation and company SHEQ procedures.
* Lead, schedule and performance-manage a day-shift team, including contractors and third-party workers: owning site Health & Safety to the highest standard.
* Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and SHEQ briefings; maintain clear, timely communications.
* Maintain daily records, KPIs and performance dashboards; report breakdowns, damages and incidents to the Group Director.
* Undertake any additional tasks necessary to maintain SHEQ compliance and site performance.
Site plant and equipment
Two Finlay screeners (883 and 683), CAT 950M front loader, 912F dumper, two Doosan excavators (DX225LC-S and DX225LC), Toyota 528FDF30 FLT, hired CAT DP25NT FLT, and ancillary equipment including cement mixer, generator, grab, SE29D270 compressor and a hired water pump.
What you'll bring
Essential
* Demonstrable experience in non-hazardous and hazardous waste transfer operations.
* Proven background in waste/recycling, engineering, wastewater or similar operational environments.
* Confidence engaging with Regulators; experienced in leading EA site visits and closing actions.
* Strong understanding of process plant operations and material flows.
* Current tickets for mobile plant (e.g., loading shovel, excavator, telehandler/FLT).
* Practical maintenance awareness and first-line fault triage on mobile plant.
* Solid HSE knowledge; able to write safe systems of work and review contractor RAMS.
* Competent IT skills for KPIs, logs and reporting.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
* WAMITAB/CoTC (Non-Hazardous Transfer) held, or commitment to achieve within an agreed timeframe.
* IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH (General/Environmental).
* Familiarity with duty of care, consignment/transfer notes, LoW coding and WM3 waste classification.
* Experience implementing preventive maintenance schedules and managing contractors.
