6 Month FTC Job Opportunity: SMSTS Civils/Site Manager – Enabling Works on Large Archaeological Site (Suffolk, IP16) We are currently seeking an experienced Civils/Site Manager (SMSTS qualified) to take the lead on all non-archaeological operations for a major ongoing archaeological project based in Suffolk (IP16 area). This is a unique opportunity to manage the enabling and logistical aspects of a large-scale site with extensive plant and infrastructure, working in parallel with active archaeological teams. Key Responsibilities: * Oversee all non-archaeological site operations, including plant, haul roads, welfare units, and general infrastructure (currently ~20 plant items and 3–4 tractors on site) * Manage and coordinate non-archaeological labour and subcontractors (groundworks, traffic management, etc.) * Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance, including dust suppression, safe stockpile handling, and traffic segregation * Maintain an effective interface with archaeological teams to ensure seamless day-to-day logistics and site functionality * Operate within the ‘spirit of CDM’ (note: CDM does not legally apply, but best practices are followed) Requirements: * SMSTS qualification is essential * Proven experience managing civils or enabling works in a live operational or specialist environment (archaeology, infrastructure, heritage or similar) * Strong understanding of plant coordination, environmental risk mitigation, and subcontractor oversight * Proactive communicator with the ability to balance logistical leadership with sensitivity to specialist site constraints Start Date: * Immediate start available – ideally by next week
