Job Title: Senior Developer
Salary: £50,000- £55,000 dependent upon experience
Location: Bristol/ Glasgow/ Portsmouth
We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Senior Developer. The role can be based from sites in Bristol, Glasgow or Portsmouth and will largely be a remote working role with the successful candidate expected to be on site once per month on average. This will be working a 37 hour week with a 1pm optional finish on Fridays.

You will be joining the the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Development team who provide Product Lifecycle Management solutions crucial for both their Naval UK and key international export programs. The company is currently driving a pivotal, technology-led, digital transformation to optimize their entire operational landscape
As a key member of a small, dedicated development team, you will be instrumental in building core capabilities to address immediate business needs while proactively evaluating emerging technologies to secure their long-term strategic advantage
Main Responsibilities:
* Fully responsible for analysing requirements, estimating, designing, scoping, architecting, developing and unit testing capability
* Demonstrate capability intent through authoring of design solutions, data modelling, process diagrams and other supplementary information along with direct collaboration with stakeholders
* Contributes to the planning and implementation of upgrade activities, including installation and configuration of software
* Investigate operational IT incidents, applies effective fixes to resolve, checking the incidents are updated and closed in accordance with agreed procedures and standards
* Consult with stakeholders to identify project needs, build trust and use experience and expertise to drive positive project outcomes
* Utilises advanced technical expertise to optimise performance by diagnosing bottlenecks, conducting data profiling and benchmarking, and performing maintenance and complex toolset configuration
* Participate in development processes and practices (Agile), backlog refinement, daily stand ups, show and tell sessions
* Coach and support associate and junior developers to progress their tasks and help them grow within their own roles
* Champion best practices, continuous improvement, coding standards and provide technical steer to other IT functions

About You:
Essential:
* Strong experience in Java, minimum Java 8. Expected Java 11/21
* Strong Perl experience
* Strong Object Orientated Analysis and Design experience
* Strong experience in web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS
* Strong experience in web services. SOAP-based and RESTful
* A solid understanding of databases
Desirable:
* Experience with CAD (Siemens Foran/NX)
* Experience with Windchill or Teamcenter
* Experience with Product Lifecycle Management
* Certification of Java, minimum Java 8. Expected Java 11/21
* Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
* Java Certified Associate (OCA)
* Understanding of software design patterns
* BEng/MEng or Computer Science degree
You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
