Data Architect - Submissions Technology
About the Role
We are looking for a Data Architect to help design and evolve the data architecture that powers Elsevier's next-generation publishing and peer-review platforms. You will play a key role in transforming our submissions ecosystem into a modern, data-centric platform that supports new submission experiences, AI‑enabled workflows, and enterprise‑wide data reuse. Working closely with engineering teams, product leaders, and platform architects, you will define the core data architecture for the submissions domain, including the manuscript‑centric data model, domain boundaries, APIs, and event‑driven data flows. This is an opportunity to shape the data foundations of one of the world's largest scholarly publishing platforms.
About the Team
The Submissions Technology group develops and operates systems that manage the complete lifecycle of scholarly manuscripts—from submission and peer review to editorial decision‑making and integration with downstream publishing and production systems. Our platforms support thousands of journals and enable collaboration between authors, reviewers, and editors across the global research community.
