Role
To support the operations of our busy Birmingham branch, Selwood Pump Rental Solutions is inviting applications for the position of Labourer / Yardsperson to join our friendly team based at our branch site in Willenhall (Birmingham).
This role provides vital support to branch operations and will be yard based, assisting with various duties in conjunction with loading and unloading of lorries to ensure timely delivery of pumps and associated equipment to meet customers’ expectations.
Responsibilities
* Keep the yard and workshops clean, tidy and organised at all times.
* Assist with loading and unloading of vehicles, checking against paperwork, noting missing or damaged items and fuel charges when needed.
* Assist fitting staff when required with tasks such as lifting and moving in depot or on-site.
* Clean hire equipment prior to entry to workshop, using pressure/steam-cleaning equipment.
* Be polite and cooperative with staff and customers, and promote the Company when on-site.
* Communicate accurately to your supervisor, colleagues and customers regarding job specifications, ETAs, missing or damaged items, and obtain signatures when delivering/collecting.
* Comply with all PPE requirements for Selwood or site regulations.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Full clean UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).
* Over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes).
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
* Ability to act proactively with a methodical, organised, detail-oriented approach.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders, including customers.
* Working knowledge of tablet devices and the ability to check and input information.
* Able to lift heavy objects, work outdoors, and perform tasks requiring significant physical effort.
Preferred
* Current Counterbalance Forklift truck licence is preferred, though training can be provided.
* Plant Loader/Securer certificate.
* Previous experience in a similar labour-intensive role is preferred but not essential; experience in the pump hire or construction industry is a plus.
