Outside IR35 – Fully Remote (UK ONLY) - Senior Front-End/Middleware Engineer
Pathway is a high-conviction early-stage AI company and looking to make their first external hires as they prepare to launch a cutting-edge platform for agentic AI systems. Their technology enables orchestration of autonomous agents with live memory, contextual awareness, and dynamic execution flows, built on advanced LLM techniques, cognitive vector systems, and scalable AI tooling.
They’re now seeking a Senior Front-End/Middleware Engineer (Contract) to help take their product to production-readiness.
This is a role is for a deeply technical engineer who can finalise and harden the frontend and middleware layers of Pathway’s platform. You’ll work directly with the founder in a high-trust, high-delivery environment, embedding excellence into every part of the user experience and delivery flow.
Key Responsibilities:
* Finalise React-based frontend for performance, accessibility, and polish
* Enhance Node.js middleware with robust API structure and error handling
* Refine Auth0 integration for secure role-based access and token management
* Optimise Redis for state caching and latency reduction
* Strengthen MongoDB read/write patterns in coordination with caching layers
* Conduct rigorous testing across frontend/middleware components
* Collaborate closely with the founder in a hands-on, autonomous build role
Tech Stack:
* React (JSX, JavaScript), Tailwind CSS
* Node.js APIs
* Auth0, MongoDB, Redis
* API integration with downstream AI systems
The Ideal Candidate will have experience in the following:
* Proven experience delivering production React frontends and Node.js middleware
* Skilled in scalable, secure API and frontend architecture
* Strong testing, caching, and performance profiling capabilities
* Outcome-focused, practical, and detail-oriented
* Comfortable working closely with a technical founder in a fast-moving startup
