Overview
Technology at Barclays. You’ll be part of one of our Technology teams, shaping the future of financial technology by creating, maintaining and improving digital infrastructure. You’ll work on software initiatives that impact customers and colleagues across our global operations, with opportunities to learn from industry experts and to grow your career in a purpose-built tech environment.
Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
* Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools; ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
* Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
* Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
* Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
* Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Analyst Expectations
* Meet the needs of stakeholders/customers through operational excellence and service delivery.
* Carry out prescribed activities in a timely manner and to a high standard; no people leadership roles at this grade.
* Execute work requirements as identified in processes and procedures, collaborating with and impacting the work of team members.
* Identify escalation of policy breaches as required; take responsibility for customer service and operational execution tasks.
* Own risk management and strengthen controls related to your work; deliver in line with applicable rules, regulations and codes of conduct.
* Understand how your role and team contribute to overall objectives and how other teams interact with your work.
* Work within well-defined procedures and demonstrate an understanding of them; evaluate and select appropriate options and make judgments based on factual information.
* Build relationships with stakeholders and customers to address needs and support smooth operations, handling sensitive issues as required.
Eligibility
Qualifications required: Highers at BBBB or above achieved by S6, including Maths and two Science subjects.
Beyond qualifications, we’re looking for commitment and enthusiasm. You’ll be supported by Barclays and expected to contribute with dedication, hard work and a willingness to learn.
