Due to early retirement of current postholder, we are looking for a motivated and dynamic Commercial and Quality Manager, a key leadership role within the Clinical Engineering Department.
You will be responsible for leading business activities, quality, certification/accreditation, and sustainability systems within Clinical Engineering (MEMO) and Medical Illustration. You will act as Clinical Engineering (MEMO) Quality Manager. You will also support, represent and deputise for the Head of Clinical Engineering as and when required to ensure ongoing service integrity.
The post could be offered on a linked-progression-basis if a candidate has the required qualifications but lacked experience at this stage.
1. Oversee and enhance services within the Trust and for external partners, ensuring all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and contracts are current, aligned with patient care goals, and support the Trust’s financial strategy. Manage associated budgets, staff training, and equipment calibration.
2. Provide expert guidance on Regulatory Affairs in medical device design and development, ensuring compliance with MDR, UK regulations, and MHRA requirements. Support internal teams and external clients, and contribute to National Performance Advisory Group (NPAG) meetings.
3. Foster strong relationships with Quality Managers and colleagues in Medical Physics and Bioengineering to advance quality management systems across the Trust.
4. Lead the implementation and monitoring of policies to meet national quality standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, MPACE, WEEE/RoHS, HTMs, CQC, and other healthcare technology regulations. Collaborate with CQC, NHSE, MHRA, BSI, Estates and Digital Services to ensure compliance and contribute to the Clinical Engineering quality strategy.
5. Manage the Trust’s Medical Devices Information System (Medusa), delivering business intelligence to support resource optimization and strategic planning for equipment replacement.
6. Ensure all staff have tailored training and development plans. Collaborate with HR, education leads, and the Head of Service to support recruitment, retention, and mentoring, enhancing the clinical engineering workforce.
