Overview
A global technology consultancy is seeking an experienced Data Architect to join its engineering function. This is a highly technical, hands-on architecture role focused on designing and overseeing complex data models across analytical and real-time streaming environments.
You will be responsible for shaping conceptual, logical and physical data models, establishing data architecture standards, and ensuring data structures support business intelligence, analytics and real-time operational needs. This role offers the chance to work across cutting-edge cloud, data and streaming technologies while collaborating with senior stakeholders and multi-disciplinary delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Design conceptual, logical and physical data models to support analytics, streaming and data product delivery.
* Define, maintain and enforce data architecture principles, standards and best practices.
* Ensure data models align to business needs, technical requirements and scalability demands.
* Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, architects and product teams to gather requirements and shape solutions.
* Lead data integration, transformation and migration approaches.
* Develop and maintain enterprise data models, dictionaries, metadata repositories and lineage documentation.
* Ensure compliance with relevant governance and regulatory frameworks.
* Optimise data products for performance, reliability and scalability.
* Evaluate and recommend new tools, modelling frameworks and emerging technologies.
* Identify and address data quality issues, inconsistencies and performance challenges.
* Provide technical leadership and mentoring across data modelling and architecture practices.
Skills & Experience Required
* 10+ years in data architecture and data modelling.
* Strong expertise across dimensional modelling, 3NF, Data Vault 2.0 and enterprise modelling techniques.
* Experience with analytical and real-time/streaming data environments.
* Hands-on experience with modelling tools such as Erwin, PowerDesigner, Lucidchart.
* Proficiency in Python and SQL (Snowflake or similar data warehousing platforms).
* Experience with AWS services – Lambda, SNS, S3, EKS, API Gateway.
* Knowledge of ETL/ELT design, Data Warehousing and big data frameworks (Snowflake, Spark etc.).
* Understanding of governance and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA).
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Ability to provide technical leadership, set modelling standards and mentor teams.
Desirable Skills
* Certifications in data modelling, cloud platforms or database technologies.
* Experience with interface/API data modelling.
* Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions or similar).
* AWS data engineering certifications.
* Knowledge of Airflow, DBT, Iceberg tables and metadata/catalogue tools such as Atlan.
