Overview
Barclays is hiring for the role of Data Model Developer in Northampton, England, United Kingdom. You will design, develop, and maintain statistical, mathematical, and machine learning models that support decision-making. In this role, you will translate business requirements into logical and physical data models that form the foundation for scalable, performance-optimised data products. You will work closely with the Data Product Manager and other stakeholders to ensure solutions are aligned with business goals and built for long-term success.
To be successful in this role, you should have experience with data modelling and related practices.
Responsibilities
* Design and implement high-quality data models that optimise access, storage, and analysis.
* Manage Business as Usual (BAU) model enhancements and changes.
* Apply advanced data modelling principles and performance optimisation techniques.
* Be familiar with AWS services.
* Work with SQL, Unix, and shell scripting to support modelling activities.
* Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into modelling specifications.
* Acquire and integrate data from various sources, including internal databases, external datasets, and real-time feeds.
* Perform data cleaning and pre-processing to ensure data quality for model development.
* Design data management strategies for model maintenance and future development.
* Develop and deploy statistical and machine learning models for applications such as credit risk assessment, fraud detection, customer segmentation, and marketing optimisation.
* Monitor model performance in real time and identify potential issues or biases.
Qualifications
* Strong understanding of data modelling principles and performance optimisation.
* Experience with AWS services.
* Proficiency in SQL and shell scripting; familiarity with Unix.
* Knowledge of data governance, cataloguing, and cloud storage design.
* Ability to translate business needs into modelling specifications and collaborate with stakeholders.

* Location: Northampton, Knutsford or Glasgow (option to work from multiple sites).
