Paediatric Governance and Quality Manager
The post holder will:
1. Identify, support, and assist the Care Group and Governance team in developing proactive risk management and robust governance.
2. Develop, implement, and evaluate a positive culture of risk management and support updates to the risk register.
3. Provide clinical challenge and advice on risk population and review.
4. Promote a no-blame culture encouraging staff to report errors to improve patient care quality.
5. Advise clinicians on patient safety and risk management matters.
6. Support policies, systems, and databases for risk management aligned with governance structures.
7. Encourage development and maintenance of risk registers at service and divisional levels.
8. Contribute to achieving national standards and prepare for assessments and audits.
9. Undertake duties respecting the NMC Code, maintaining professionalism and credibility.
10. Facilitate a culture where governance and risk management are integral to care and staff wellbeing.
11. Ensure review and investigation of all neonatal and paediatric incidents, including outside the Paeds setting.
12. Input incident reports into the system, monitor trends, and facilitate investigations and learning from incidents.
13. Support clinical guideline development, review, and dissemination.
14. Participate in audits and ensure compliance with governance issues.
15. Lead and contribute to reports, ensuring actions follow the PSIRF framework.
16. Demonstrate effective leadership, advocate for patient safety, and participate in management and governance meetings.
17. Identify and escalate non-compliance issues, organize meetings, and participate in morbidity and mortality reviews.
18. Be an active member of the senior nursing team and participate in on-call duties.
19. Maintain effective communication within teams and with external agencies.
20. Support external inspections, monitor improvement actions, and ensure compliance with standards.
21. Engage with service users to inform practice development and represent the team externally.
