Role Description
The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and visitor experience at a designated English Heritage site in Canterbury. Key duties include managing site staff and volunteers, ensuring excellent public engagement, maintaining high standards of presentation, and overseeing health and safety protocols. The Site Manager will also play a significant role in planning events, increasing site revenue, and liaising with local stakeholders and partners. This is a contract, on-site role requiring hands-on involvement and leadership at the Canterbury location.
Qualifications
Experience in site management, including team leadership and staff coordination.
Proficiency in operations oversight, health and safety management, and event planning.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with visitors, volunteers, and stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage budgets, meet financial targets, and improve revenue streams.
Knowledge or passion for heritage sites, cultural preservation, or tourism sectors is advantageous.
A proactive approach, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in an on-site environment.
Flexibility to work during weekends, bank holidays, or evenings according to site needs.
Desirable: Experience working within a charitable organization, heritage, or arts and culture environment.
