Job Description:
Support Practitioner - Forest of Dean
Join us as an Autism Support Practitioner and create a future where learning-disabled people live the best life possible.
A professional qualification in health, education or social care is desirable. In addition, you must also have previous experience supporting individuals within a social care, education or health environment.
The individuals we support have challenging behaviour; therefore, previous experience supporting individuals with Autism is essential.
We know that life can be complicated for everybody. But some are stopped from working towards their dreams. Many learning-disabled people aren't heard about the support they'd like. Some don't get to decide what they do for work or how to spend or save their money. Many won't get to try out new hobbies they’d love to explore.
But you can change all that.
If our values - Kind, Diverse, Positive, and Visionary - resonate with you, then we have lots in common. Come on board and support learning-disabled adults with those very values to develop skills, achieve life goals, and thrive in your community.
What we offer you
* Location: Coleford (Forest of Dean)
* Salary: £14 per hour, increasing from 1st October 2024
* Working hours: Early, late, and weekend shifts (07:00-14:30, 14:30-22:00, 22:00-07:00). Sleep-ins at the service are £60+ per night.
* Holidays: 33 days of annual leave, including 8 statutory bank holidays
* Pay incentives: 10% overtime allowance, 20% Bank Holiday allowance, 50% for key dates over Christmas
* Training & development: Fully funded Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care
* Benefits: Health, retail, and cash incentives
What you'll be doing
Every day is different—from supporting someone to plan their weekly shop to going on outdoor adventures. You will provide personal care, support with daily tasks like medication management, and help build confidence in using public transport, teaching money management skills, and enabling people to discover new interests and achieve goals.
Supporting individuals to maintain important relationships and explore new opportunities is key. A full UK driving license is desirable due to limited public transport options.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Coleford service!
