Our client is an expanding Alternative Education Provision, serving primary &secondary-aged pupils with EHCPs relating tolearners with SEND, predominantly SEMH, with their headquarters based in Weston Super Mare and other sites in thesurrounding areas across the South West. The on-site offer isa ‘revolving-door’ approachwhereby students stay at the provision for up to 18 weeks, on a part-time 'transition' basis before returning to a mainstream education setting or attending a special school.Many of the learners that the client supports have not engaged in education for a significant amount of time, commonly an individualised approach for each child is necessary.
The role of an Outreach Learning Mentor is to help re-engage learners into education, supporting them at an outdoor education site, activities within the community and planning topics based around their current learning plan and curriculum. For some of the learners there will have been a barrier to their learning, and you will need to help them overcome this barrier, supporting their re-engagement into education and helping with their personal development. You will be required to pick the learner up from their education setting or home, and spend the designated amount of time with them, focusing on their learning plan and tailoring activities around this, then returning them to their setting or home.
For this role you will:
* be able to work autonomously and independently
* be willing to travel around North Somerset and Bristol area
* hold a clean UK driving licence with business insurance
* be willing to respond to the needs of the child
* be confident in re-engaging learners with educational activities
* be empathetic to the needs of the child; emotionaland practical
