The cook will prepare residents meals and maintain a well-balanced nutritious diet (Taking into consideration special dietary needs and requirements as set out in Residents Care Plans, and residents menu choices)
Maintain a high standard of food preparation and implement the requirements set out by the Environment Health and Local Authority for the Home, the Food Safety Act 1990, and the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations Personal appearance must be of an acceptable level. Uniform provided must be worn, hair covered or tied back. Sensible enclosed non-slip shoes to be worn.)
Requirements
Must be confident to lone work
Experience in maintaining a 5* food hygiene rating is ideal but not essential
An understanding of Safe food better business and working inline to this
To hold a suitable food and hygiene certificate, ideal but not essential
To prepare food and cook in a hygienic manner. Help come up with ideas for meals and mealtimes
To be aware of the residents' dietary needs and respond to their comments and requests in respect of the menu
To ensure that all food is used within the prescribed period, with particular attention paid to perishable goods
To contribute in the serving of food
To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required
Strong knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking procedures
