Job Purpose
As a dynamic and inspirational people leader with a background in engineering or manufacturing, the Quality Manager will manage a small team of Quality Professionals and report directly to the General Manager, with a dotted line to the Lucy Electric Quality Director. The role focuses on QA encompassing Customer Complaints & Support, Service Support, Production Quality & routine Test, Supplier Quality, and Design review across all business boundaries, with an emphasis on manufacturing processes within Lucy Electric EV Infrastructure Ltd and inspection of goods/equipment manufactured at other Lucy Electric sites. The Quality Manager holds full responsibility for Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, Sustainability & Compliance, participating in all aspects of the product life cycle to ensure end‑to‑end quality is effectively managed throughout equipment life. Additional responsibilities include timely resolution of Customer Support Incidents (CSI) to ensure corrective actions and preventative actions (CAPA) are identified and implemented business‑wide, and proactive collaboration across the entire business to develop and deliver quality, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain operations and customer satisfaction.

Job Dimensions
The role will be based onsite in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire, with possible travel to other Lucy Electric locations and seasonal overseas trips as required.
Key Accountabilities
* Report to the General Manager with a dotted reporting line to the Lucy Electric Group Quality Director and collaborate closely with the global Lucy quality team, global factories, suppliers, engineering teams and customers.
* Work with the Operations Director to produce a quality strategy, identify key goals and initiatives that enable all quality processes to support the business, and drive competitive advantage.
* Maintain and drive continuous improvement through BOS and Lean methodologies, with regular reviews to assess progress.
* Manage and ensure the company’s legal and regulatory environmental compliance.
* Assume Health & Safety responsibility supported by Lucy Electric Global HSE Team.
* Coordinate and maintain legal, regulatory and internal policy compliance for all team members.
* Champion sustainability and monitor sustainability, SBTi, emissions measurement & net‑zero reduction, ensuring customer sustainability requirements are met.
* Implement Lucy Integrated Management Systems to achieve and maintain ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 & 14064 certification.
* Capture the Cost of Poor Quality from UK manufacture and recharge costs for global COPQ issues.
* Manage the monthly quality cost centre and budgets; strive to improve overall financial KPIs.
* Manage supplier relationships to ensure supply quality standards and measure them on on‑time, in‑full delivery targets.
* Lead by example to demonstrate company behaviours and values, fostering learning, development and openness to change.
* Develop internal talent and source top talent to strengthen the function and company.
* Ensure all quality team members have regular performance management meetings.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
* Lean Six Sigma qualifications (minimum Greenbelt, preferred Blackbelt).
* Experience in ISO 9001:2015 QMS Requirements & ISO 14001 Environmental Systems requirements.
* Experience in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Enthusiastic, well‑disciplined, able to work independently and in small teams, with a wider global Quality Team.
* Initiative, reliability, and conscientiousness.
* Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills; good team‑building skills.
* Logical thinking.
* Direct involvement with all members of the UK Operations, Sales, Engineering and Technical teams at all levels.
* Engineering competency including reading drawings, BOMs etc.
* Experience with existing, new and developing products.
* Engagement with customers as needed.
* Advanced Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval (PPAP), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PMF & DFMEA).
* Structured problem solving and practical knowledge of quality tools: Ishikawa, RCA, 5‑Why, 8‑D, SPC, MSA I and II, Pareto analysis.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Experience working with Microsoft D365 or similar business systems from a QA perspective.

Other Requirements
* Degree level education or equivalent certified experience in an engineering/technical/manufacturing field.
* ISO internal audit qualified.
* Certificated experience in people management.
