Eleanor Hodson House care home is seeking an experienced chef/cook to join our kitchen team. We are looking for an individual with a passion for preparing and cooking nutritious meals from fresh ingredients and someone who is able to bring inspiration to our menus.
Although desirable, but not essential, you will have an understanding of how to fortify foods for those who are challenged with unplanned weight loss, you would ideally have an understanding of and be able to implement the modification of food consistency in line with IDDSI guidance (pureed meals) and you will be able to make meals appealing to the senses.
You will be a creative and motivated individual, who is able to take the lead in the kitchen and plan for larger events also.
You will be responsible for the overall management of the catering needs, maintaining the hygiene of the kitchen, completing documentation and manage the ordering from out suppliers on a weekly basis and stock control.
To be successful in this position you need to be a team player with good communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative. You will also need to be trained to NVQ level 2 in catering and hold a basic food hygiene certificate. Knowledge of HACCP is essential.
Our residents enjoy their snacks and cakes, so the ability to bake would be an advantage A good sense of humour is a must,
