On behalf of our client, a leading engineering / manufacturing business, we are recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing Quality Manager to join their team.
Reporting to the Quality Director and working in close partnership with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering, this is a pivotal leadership role focused on ensuring product excellence and customer satisfaction. As the primary quality interface for customers, you’ll be instrumental in building strong relationships, driving continuous improvement, and implementing best-in-class quality practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the Manufacturing Quality team to deliver high performance, aligned with annual business objectives.
* Champion quality initiatives across manufacturing, ensuring Right First Time production and adherence to customer expectations.
* Act as the quality representative in operational tiered reviews and escalation processes.
* Manage non-conforming material processes (MRB, RTV, in-house problem solving), reducing scrap and rework while improving FPY and customer satisfaction.
* Develop and maintain robust quality assurance and control systems across internal processes and supplier performance.
* Build effective working relationships with customers and suppliers as the key point of contact for product quality.
* Oversee quality aspects of supplier management – including FAIR, Goods Inwards, and corrective actions (NCM, CAR/8D).
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence, actively promoting Lean tools and best practices.
* Enhance team capability, succession planning, and the strategic development of Quality functions.
Skills and Experience Required
* In-depth knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, AS9145 and Part 21G (auditor approval an advantage).
* Practical experience in 8D problem solving, Lean manufacturing, and quality improvement tools.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead, influence, and inspire cross-functional teams.
* Experience leading a Quality function within a manufacturing environment.
* Commercially aware, customer-focused, and results-driven with a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
* Comfortable managing competing demands in a high-pressure environment.
* Skilled in Microsoft Office applications; experience with manufacturing methods including surface treatments (e.g., anodising, zinc plating) and verification against engineering standards.
