The Role We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant / Canteen Cook to join our team and work closely with Site Services to provide freshly cooked, healthy meals for all staff. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with a passion for food and nutrition, who thrives in a clean, well-organised kitchen and takes pride in meeting high standards of hygiene and service. About the Position Shift: Monday to Friday Contract: Full-Time, Permanent position (Willing to consider Part-time 30 hours) Salary: £14.46 per hour The day to day Prepare and serve healthy, balanced meals using fresh ingredients Ensure excellent food hygiene and cleanliness throughout kitchen and canteen areas Adhere to all current food safety guidelines and maintain accurate documentation Manage stock effectively, including accurate ordering and regular stock checks to avoid over/under ordering Replenish kitchen and staff areas as needed The Essentials Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene and Food Preparation Proven experience working in a kitchen environment Knowledge of dietary requirements including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and nut-free diets Strong awareness of food safety and kitchen safety practices Ensure all kitchen and canteen facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained Ensure all practices align with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 standards Our benefits include: Attractive Salary Private Healthcare Shift Allowance Discretionary annual bonus Life Assurance 25 days holiday plus bank holidays 6% employer pension Free parking Fully subsidised staff canteen Working at ALS The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
