Offer description

Supply Chain Quality Manager Location: Hybrid, based from Derby, Manchester or Warrington Salary: £63,750 – £78,750 dependent on experience 12.5% bonus £2,200 flexible allowance Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Rolls‑Royce SMR provides a British solution to a global energy challenge, leading the way in Small Modular Reactor technology and shaping the UK’s premier green export opportunity. Our Supply Chain Quality function is fundamental to enabling a capable, compliant and high‑performing supply base that can safely and predictably support our first SMR delivery and future fleet deployment. Playing a critical assurance and governance role, Supply Chain Quality ensures that suppliers are fully approved, controlled, and aligned to stringent nuclear, regulatory and Rolls‑Royce SMR quality expectations. To strengthen this, we’re looking for a Supply Chain Quality Manager to lead supplier approval, change governance, assurance activity and ongoing quality control across our expanding global supply chain. Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain Quality & Development, you’ll provide leadership, oversight and direction to our Supplier Quality Professionals — ensuring that supplier assurance, compliance and quality governance is executed to the highest standard. What you’ll be doing Lead supplier onboarding, qualification and approval, ensuring suppliers meet all required quality, regulatory and Supplier Management System Requirements (SMSR) before entering the supply chain. Ensure robust assurance, auditability, traceability and evidence quality underpin all supplier approvals and ongoing controls. Manage and allocate Supplier Quality Professionals to supplier assessments, surveillance activity and issue closure. Ensure non‑conforming products or services do not enter the business through strong assurance, governance and preventative controls. Govern supplier change control (product, process, tooling, location, sub‑tier), ensuring Zero Uncontrolled Change across all supplier activity. Lead resolution of supplier non‑conformances, concessions and escapes, ensuring effective containment, root‑cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions. Identify, assess and escalate supplier quality risks, maintaining predictable and stable external quality performance. Act as escalation point for suppliers and internal teams on assurance, onboarding, change control and governance matters. Build strong, trust‑based supplier relationships to support transparent conversations on quality, risk and compliance. Coordinate cross‑functional collaboration with Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing and Supplier Development to address supplier risks and performance gaps. Maintain high standards of evidence control, documentation, reporting discipline and adherence to wider quality and assurance frameworks. Feed lessons learned and improvement opportunities into central governance to drive continuous improvement. Lead, support and develop Supplier Quality Professionals, ensuring consistent assessment quality and strong one‑team behaviours. Champion a strong nuclear safety culture, operational discipline, integrity and high‑quality decision making. What you’ll bring Significant experience in Quality, Supplier Quality or Assurance within a complex, regulated or industrial environment (e.g. nuclear, aerospace, defence, energy). Experience conducting structured supplier assessments, audits, issue investigations or assurance reviews. Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and auditing (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 19443, AS9100). Experience leading root‑cause analysis, corrective/preventative actions and structured problem‑solving (e.g. DMAIC, A3, 8D). Ability to interpret technical, regulatory and quality information to make clear, evidence‑based decisions. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with suppliers and internal functions alike. Experience working within strong governance, evidence‑based and compliance‑led environments. Degree (or equivalent experience) in Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing or a related technical discipline. Training in Lean, CI, auditing, risk management or operational assurance frameworks. Beneficial: Six Sigma Black Belt/Lean Practitioner, APQP/PPAP/FAIR, IRCA Lead Auditor, H&S training, and international or multi‑region supply chain experience.
