Role Summary
Operational by Design. This is a hands‑on operational People and Culture role.
The primary purpose is to ensure that core HR processes run smoothly, compliantly and consistently across both Aion companies.
At 20 hours per week, the role focuses on operational excellence and disciplined execution.
Core Purpose
To own and deliver day‑to‑day people operations across the employee lifecycle; to support managers with practical and proportionate guidance; and to ensure alignment with Volaris Group systems, reporting and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
1. People Operations and Compliance
* Maintain contracts, policies and HR documentation
* Ensure compliance with UK employment law and local Portuguese requirements via coordination
* Manage onboarding and offboarding processes
* Oversee payroll inputs in coordination with Finance
* Administer benefits and liaise with providers
* Maintain accurate employee data within Group systems such as Workday
* Ensure timely completion of Group reporting cycles
Operational reliability is a core success measure.
2. Recruitment and Onboarding
* Coordinate recruitment processes with hiring managers
* Ensure consistent job descriptions and interview processes
* Manage candidate communications and documentation
* Deliver structured onboarding aligned to Group standards
Managers retain hiring decisions; this role ensures process quality and consistency.
3. Employee Relations and Manager Support
* Handle day‑to‑day employee relations matters proportionate to a small business
* Support managers with early‑stage performance, conduct and capability matters
* Provide clear documentation and process guidance
* Escalate complex cases to the CEO or Volaris Group HR as appropriate
The emphasis is pragmatic, proportionate and well governed practice.
4. Systems and Group Alignment
* Act as primary liaison between Aion and Volaris Group HR
* Ensure disciplined use of Workday and other Group platforms
* Support headcount, attrition and compliance reporting
* Coordinate participation in Group learning and leadership programmes
* Translate Group best practice into practical local application
This role balances standalone infrastructure with effective integration into Group systems.
Skills and Experience
Essential
* HR generalist experience in a small or scaling organisation
* Good working knowledge of UK employment law
* Experience independently running HR operations
* Confidence supporting managers with practical people matters
* Experience using structured HR systems; experience with Workday advantageous
* CIPD Level 3 or equivalent experience
Desirable
* Experience in software or technology environments
* Portuguese speaking not essential but would be ideal
* Portuguese employment law
* Experience operating within a Group reporting structure

* HR data accurate within Workday
* Group reporting completed reliably and on time
* Consistent recruitment and onboarding processes in place
* Managers confident in basic people processes

* Predictable and compliant people operations
* Clear integration into Volaris HR cycles
* Structured performance and development rhythms embedded
* Strong foundation for future scaling
