Length of employment: Job Summary: Are you an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer who can help build, administer, support and maintain IT solutions so that DWP can deliver high quality public services? You will join a team within DWP working on the largest government installation of ServiceNow within Europe. You will be responsible for ensuring the development meets standards and requirements within ServiceNow across multiple feature teams, acting as an initial point of contact for technical guidance within the team(s). Our product delivery unit is driven by the desire to enable our colleague's interactions with the digital environment to be as seamless and painless as possible, and act as an enabler to the Department's primary purpose of supporting 20 million people every day to help them to find work and save for their future. The platform currently supports circa 120,000 colleagues across the multiple ServiceNow modules and applications, exposing us regularly to a wide range of different challenges and opportunities within the ServiceNow ecosphere. Job Description: As a Senior ServiceNow Developer (G7) you will be responsible for ensuring development within the feature team(s) in your remit, meets both the stated requirements and the acceptable standards defined within the Delivery Unit. You will provide technical guidance and escalation for developers and other members of the feature team(s). You will work within, and contribute to, the overall ServiceNow Development Lifecycle Process as part of a delivery team focused on one or more products, providing specialist technical support and assistance to colleagues and projects ensuring definition and delivery of requisite functional requirements in line with our current roadmap. You will be responsible for ensuring performant and secure configuration of the products within your feature team(s). As a Senior ServiceNow Developer you will be responsible for ensuring the following activities are carried out: Deliver new configuration and functionality to the ServiceNow Production instance in line with the DWP Software Delivery Lifecycle and DWP Place roadmap. Complete stories assigned or escalate blockers to ensure that development is completed to expected standards and are delivered within timescales. Manage the technical progression of more junior developers within your reporting line. Perform technical reviews of other developers work and provide any required guidance. Line management of other developers Creating and maintaining documentation. Working to the Delivery Manager you will be an intrinsic part of the ServiceNow Product Delivery Unit, working alongside other members of the feature team and DWP internal teams and end user communities. Provide a technical steer and assessment of initiatives that enhance the ServiceNow offering within the department, whilst also ensuring the stability and integrity of the system performance, alongside accessibility and security compliance. This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. Salary Information Pay for this role is from £55,557 to £68,517. The maximum salary for the grade is £66,058, however a Digital Allowance of up to £2,459 per annum is available for exceptional candidates. Digital Allowance is non-salary, and non-pensionable, and is classed as a temporary allowance. It is reviewed annually where it could be retained, amended, or removed. Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview. Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary. Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater. When giving details in your employment history and personal statement you should highlight your experience in line with essential criteria below: Lead criterion: You must be a ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and hold the Certified System Administrator Certification Substantial experience of various modules and applications within ServiceNow (eg - ITSM, ITOM, SPM, NLU, Security, HRSD, Service Portals, Workspaces, CMDB, Integrations) Significant demonstrable experience of delivering value through the implementation of new or enhanced functionality into a large organisation in a ServiceNow context. Proven ability to be able to work in a fact-paced environment either as part of a team or under their own initiative Demonstrable experience of troubleshooting and resolving complex issues across an enterprise tooling infrastructure, individually or as part of a team, showing initiative when tackling issues and providing potential solutions where applicable. Strong working knowledge and practical experience of IT methodologies such as Agile Influential and able to demonstrate experience of effectively communicating at different levels to various technical and non-technical audiences. There, you will be assessed against the experiences listed in the essential criteria. You will be asked to do a short test (10 minutes) on a series of technical questions, based on the fundamentals of the ServiceNow platform. Interviews will take place from mid July 2024 onwards.
