TWO WEEK FIXED ROTA
Week 1: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 8am-2pm
Week 2: Thursday, Saturday & Sunday 8am-2pm
COOK JOB DESCRIPTION
* Cooks to record temperatures of fridge and freezer at start of shift and at end of shift reporting any concerns to manager if equipment faulty.
* Cooks to wear appropriate uniform with plain black trousers and flat sensible shoes at all times
* Cooks to clean the food preparation area, equipment, and other kitchen tools before cooking to prevent infection. Ensure the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic, using correct boards for foods being prepared, all foods to be probed by cook before serving to ensure cooked thoroughly too appropriate temperature.
* Cooks to prepare meals for residents, staff and guests, must continuously clean their work areas, and cooking utensils used to prevent infection. Always ensuring cleaning is performed before cooking, during and after to ensure smooth running of the kitchen area, leaving kitchen tidy at end of shift, promoting effective working conditions.
* Cooks paying particular attention to the safety of their foods, as care homes often have vulnerable/sick patients who are susceptible to infections, when food is improperly prepared.
* Cooks to order regular supplies of foods to ensure ingredients required are available, and ensure they are stored correctly, and in appropriate place, all foods must be stored in original packaging to ensure use by/best before dates are present on all packaging.
* Cooks to wash all utensils and dishes used, making sure they are stored safely/appropriately in a cleaned sanitized area, and ensure cooker/oven is cleaned thoroughly at end of their shift.
* Cooks must be aware of any special dietary requirements, any allergies as patients can have severe reactions when they receive wrong meal, or when ingredients are added that could lead to a medical crisis.
* Cooks to record daily, all kitchen paperwork required throughout their shift to ensure accurate records are completed within their duties.
* Cooks to carry out regular stocktake regularly to ensure foods are available for 4 weekly menus, all menus must be followed, any menu changes must be discussed with manager, and menus must be adhered to.
· Cooks to be fully aware of the fire policy and the awareness of food hygiene regulations, ensuring adherence to the Homes Health and Safety Policy and Procedures. Also to take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions
