Purpose of role:
The Cook is responsible for the provision of high standard of food and hotel services to crew/clients as directed by the Master.
Main duties:
* Provision of high standard of food and hotel services to crew/clients
* Hygiene of galley, food preparation/storage and mess areas.
* Ordering/accounting for victualling and hotel stores, ensuring appropriate supplies are aboard and maintained to a sufficient level for tasking: Victualling stores include (but not limited to) galley equipment/utensils and mess crockery/cutlery. Hotel stores include (but not limited to) cabin stores (towels, bedding)
* Be familiar with safety routines and ensure necessary safeguards are in place before any maintenance/repair work commences.
* Fully conversant with extant food hygiene legislation.
* To be fully conversant with the use of all safety equipment, emergency procedures and contingency plans.
* Familiar with company Safety Management System - specifically: Permit to Work/Tag Out Systems, Shipboard Management Team, Shipboard Safety Committee and Waste disposal
Skills, knowledge and experience:
* Minimum Ship's Cook Certificate of Competence
* STCW Personal Survival Techniques (5 Year Refresher Course)
* STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (5 Year Refresher Course)
* STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (5 Year Refresher Course)
* STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft (5 Year Refresher Course)
* STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (5 Year Refresher Course)
* STCW Elementary First Aid
* Unrestricted ENG1
* Passport
* Methodical in approach
* Good standard of education
