Rocksteady Music School is the UK’s largest rock and pop school. We teach fun and inclusive in-school band lessons to primary age children. Our mission is simple: to amplify children's self-belief and remove barriers to music education. We’re currently in thousands of schools in the UK, teaching nearly 100,000 children every week – and we’re growing fast.
We have recently opened our second office in the UK, based in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. This distinctive, lively setting suits us perfectly and we’re on the lookout for great people to join our new team here. We all play our part in supporting our band leaders to reach as many children as possible with their lessons. We are a community of music lovers using our individual talents to help give children the self-belief to succeed. That’s what gets us out of bed in the morning.
We are seeking a passionate and people-focused Recruiter to be based in our Birmingham office. This is a dynamic, full-time role that plays a vital part in shaping the future of our growing organisation. You'll be responsible for delivering a high-quality recruitment experience across a range of roles, helping us find exceptional talent who share our mission to amplify children’s self-belief through music.
If you're proactive, organised, and excited by the idea of working for a values-led organisation that makes a real impact on young people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you.
As a Recruiter you will:
* Manage end-to-end recruitment for non-band leader roles, including reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and leading assessment days.
* Facilitate final-stage interviews and ensure a positive candidate experience throughout.
* Partner with Hiring Managers to understand their needs and tailor recruitment processes accordingly.
* Build and nurture talent pools for current and future non-band leader vacancies.
* Provide timely candidate updates, deliver feedback calls, and respond to career inbox queries with professionalism and care.
* Support Band Leader recruitment as needed: review applications and conduct 1st & 2nd stage video interviews; lead tables at Band Leader assessment days and assist with observations.
* Actively source and headhunt for all roles using platforms such as LinkedIn and CV databases.
* Represent Rocksteady at job fairs, recruitment events, and networking opportunities to promote our employer brand.
As a Recruiter you’ll have:
* Strong interviewing skills, with confidence in running assessments and facilitating final-stage interviews.
* Proven experience working directly with hiring managers or stakeholders to shape recruitment processes.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a candidate-first mindset.
* Comfortable using an ATS and sourcing tools (e.g., LinkedIn Recruiter, CV databases).
* Ability to manage multiple roles and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
* Passion for people, great organisation skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Experience in education, music, or youth-focused sectors is a bonus but not essential.
* Be highly organised and target driven
Benefits
* Working Hours: Full-time position; 35 hours per week
* Annual salary of £27,000 + discretionary company bonus up to £1,500
* 28 days holiday plus bank holidays
* Long service award: an additional 4 weeks’ pay after 5 years
* Personal development opportunities
* Comprehensive benefits package including discounts on everyday purchases, free 24/7 GP service
* Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
* Celebratory staff away-days, Christmas parties and social events.
* Opportunities to work with the Rocksteady Foundation, reaching children and young people in charities and support groups across the UK.
Every once in a while, you get the chance to be part of something really special. When you join Rocksteady, you know immediately that you’ve found it. We might be growing fast but we pay special attention to protecting our unique working culture and ensuring everyone feels comfortable to be themselves at work. We look out for each other, welcome new colleagues as friends and stay true to our small-company roots; rolling up our sleeves if a job needs doing, solving problems together and, most importantly, always putting the children first. Like-minded people are joining us and we’re reaching more and more children with our lessons every week. We keep growing because we’re driven by our passion for the life-changing nature of music. Join us and use your skills for good.
