The Role
The Student Success Unit is responsible for developing and supporting the delivery of an outstanding and distinctive student experience so that students have a high-quality University experience. This role will Support the University’s Lifelong Learning and Apprenticeship Hub (LLAH) in ensuring the Compliance and Quality of our Apprenticeship and CPD programmes.
We are looking for an individual with strong interpersonal skills, which will help you relate to our students, academic colleagues, and senior internal/external stakeholders. You should also be adept in organising, prioritising, and managing time effectively to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of Apprenticeships. You should have a keen eye for detail and look to identify and implement improvements wherever possible. Working with a variety of stakeholders, you will demonstrate initiative, efficiency, attention to detail and a willingness to be flexible to support the wider team.
Reporting to the Lifelong Learning Senior Manager, this is a key role which will contribute to the quality assurance of LLAH provision for Apprenticeships, CPD and End Point Assessment. A significant part of the role will require specialist expertise to manage and monitor compliance related to ESFA funding, Ofsted and Office for Students requirements as well as liaise with the University Educational Policy and Governance team.

Key Accountabilities
Apprenticeships
1. Support LLAH senior management with the development and delivery of processes and procedures to further develop the quality of the University apprenticeship provision
2. Liaise with the Lifelong Learning Senior Manager to create, update and report on standard operating procedures, policies, and processes to meet the requirements of internal and external inspections/audits, including Ofsted, ESFA and OfS related specifically to End Point Assessment
3. Manage a quality assured process of onboarding new employers and apprentices in accordance with funding and regulatory guidance
4. Manage the processes linked to quality assurance and compliance of apprenticeships which includes IQA, conducting monthly Provider Data Self-Assessment (PDSAT) Audit samples and data compliance
5. Work with the LLAH Senior Manager to create, monitor and report on the University Quality Improvement Plan (QiP) for Apprenticeships
6. Support the Lifelong Learning Senior Manager in collating & analysing Apprenticeship Quality and Compliance data in readiness for quarterly governance reports
7. Monitor and review the financial processes linked to Apprenticeships including employer Contracts for Service, Schedule 1 Apprenticeship costings and employer co-investment payments
End Point Assessment
8. Develop and update End Point Assessment processes for all Apprenticeship Standards where Newcastle University is the named and recognised End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) to ensure there are robust and compliant processes in place, in accordance with OfS requirement and guidance
9. Establish clear processes to ensure there is a clear separation of duties and handover points between the University as a training provider and EPAO, to avoid potential conflicts of interest
10. Conduct Gateway compliance checks on all apprentice records who have completed their practical training period to ensure they meet ESFA funding regulations and the End Point Assessment Organisation requirements
11. For Apprenticeship Standards where an external organisation is acting as the End Point Assessment Organisation, work with the Apprenticeship Operations Manager to establish compliant operational processes to ensure the assessment requirements can be met
12. Support the Lifelong Learning Senior Manager and key internal stakeholders in preparation and readiness for OfS monitoring and quality inspection visits linked with End Point Assessment
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
13. Liaise with the LLAH Senior Manager and Project Manager to develop & agree a suite of quality assurance processes for CPD provision including programme approval and readiness to deliver
14. Liaise with LLAH Senior Manager and Project Manager to understand, document and process map the accreditation of training via the CPD certification service
The Person
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
15. Knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance and Enhancement standards and practices in HEIs
16. Significant knowledge and experience of the degree apprenticeship landscape
17. Experience of OFSTED inspections and requirements
18. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to give presentations to senior internal and external partners
19. Demonstrable experience in supporting higher and degree apprenticeship activity
20. Ability to think strategically, plan ahead and to adopt and active and flexible approach to problem solving
21. Strong interpersonal skills including motivational negotiating and relationship/partnership building
22. Self-confidence in advising senior colleagues on matters of apprenticeship policy and procedures

Qualifications
30. Degree or equivalent level qualification plus substantial experience in a similar role or significant vocational experience, demonstrating development through progressively more demanding, relevant roles
