The role
Alderman Bolton Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a committed and compassionate Learning Mentor to support pupils’ emotional, social and academic development.
The post holder will work with children who experience barriers to learning, providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support to promote wellbeing, positive behaviour, engagement and inclusion.
The role involves working closely with teaching staff, the SENCo, families and external agencies to implement effective support strategies, contribute to individual plans, and support pupils during times of transition. The Learning Mentor will play an important role within the school’s pastoral and safeguarding framework and help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with children in a school or similar setting, a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and a commitment to inclusive practice. They will be empathetic, calm and resilient, with excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues. Experience of mentoring, pastoral support or therapeutic approaches is desirable.
