Lead Quality in a Hands-On, SME Environment
A leading UK manufacturer of specialist safety and control systems is looking for an experienced Quality Manager to take full ownership of the Quality function. This is a great opportunity for a practical and steady professional who enjoys being hands-on and making a direct impact within a lean team.
This role is perfect for a Quality Manager who thrives in small-to-medium manufacturing environments, where autonomy, pace, and variety are part of day-to-day life.
What You'll Be Doing
* Own and manage the Quality Management System (QMS)
* Lead internal audits and build audit capability across the business
* Act as signatory for Declarations of Conformity under the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
* Maintain relationships with certification bodies and external auditors
* Oversee ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and F-Gas compliance
* Drive practical continuous improvement using 8D, Ishikawa, FMEA, Pareto
* Support tenders and PQQs with high-quality responses
* Work closely with engineering, operations, and senior management
* Lead environmental and sustainability initiatives
About You
You may currently be a Quality Manager or a Senior Quality Engineer ready to step up. You're comfortable working as the sole Quality lead on site, calm under pressure, and methodical in your approach. You enjoy bringing structure to fast-paced SME environments and dealing directly with engineers, production staff, and senior leaders.
Experience with QMS ownership, audits, ISO standards, and ERP/quality systems (SAP, SAGE, etc.) is important. Experience in safety-critical or regulated manufacturing is beneficial but not essential.
