Site Manager
The Role
The main purpose of the Site Manager is to manage the construction site to achieve project delivery aligned with customer objectives while maintaining health, safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control. You will deliver projects to the specified quality, programme and commercial performance, working closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager, engineers and surveyors to ensure projects are completed safely and to customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management
* Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of various projects in the Civils and Water sectors
* Deliver work to the specified quality without defects
* Lead a team of Sub Agents, Engineers and Foremen to deliver work safely, with no environmental incidents and to the specified quality
* Produce and implement Project Plans, RAMS, ITPs and other Safe Systems of Work in line with company procedures
* Maximise the contract’s commercial performance
* Produce and manage the project construction programme and four-week look-ahead programmes
* Produce procurement schedules and liaise with procurement to ensure sites have adequate resources
Client Interface
* Represent the business to customers, the public and official bodies as an ambassador
* Deliver end products to customer requirements and satisfaction
Cost Control
* Populate and manage the Barhale cost plan for the project
* Maximise project value
* Maintain detailed site diaries/records
* Maintain commercial tension to drive out cost and challenge the status quo
* Identify value engineering opportunities
Reporting
* Produce high-quality, accurate monthly reports for the client and internally
* Chair weekly site meetings in line with company procedures

* Monthly and weekly reporting timescales are met

Person Specification
The successful candidate will need considerable experience in Civil and Water sectors and familiarity with Process Engineering. Essential and desirable criteria are listed below.
Essential
* Considerable experience in Civil Engineering/Water, Utilities and FRC works as a Site Agent for a contractor, delivering projects in a highly regulated environment
* Working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme and Risk Management and cost control, including forecasting, actual cost, and value reporting
* Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
* Good knowledge of specifications and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering
* Experience managing subcontractors value greater than £1m
* Experience in Safe Systems of Work for task-specific activities
* Experience in producing look-ahead programmes, implementing and analysing
* Knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract
* CSCS (Site Manager) and SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely
* Excellent communication, people and team management skills
* Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to a conclusion
* Ability to demonstrate the right behaviours and motivate the team in line with Barhale culture
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
