Role: Learning Mentor - Community Based SEND Support

Hours: Full time and part time hours available
Salary: £110 - £120 per day
Long-Term Teachers are delighted to be working with a respected, person-centred education provider to recruit Learning Mentors for their Exeter-based team. Starting in September 2025, these roles offer a rewarding opportunity to work with young people aged 16 - 25 who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with EHCPs.
This is more than a classroom role - you’ll be delivering meaningful, real-world learning experiences in the community, supporting learners to build confidence, independence and key life skills.
About The Role:
As a Learning Mentor, you’ll guide students through tailored learning journeys that take place in local libraries, leisure centres, work placements and community hubs. You’ll deliver personalised support that blends academic progress with social, emotional and practical development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Mentor students in a range of community-based environments
* Deliver inclusive learning experiences tailored to individual needs and interests
* Monitor and report progress toward educational and personal goals
* Work closely with tutors, families and outside professionals to ensure holistic support

* Promote confidence, resilience and independent living skills
Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with young people is essential, with SEND or additional needs is an advantage
* Compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic about supporting young learners
* Confident working independently in varied community settings
* Creative, flexible and proactive in tailoring learning activities
* Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle
