About the Role:
We are working with a well-resourced secondary school in Birmingham seeking a passionate and creative Food Technology teacher to join the Design & Technology team from January. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and practical Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 & 4, including preparation for GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition (or equivalent). The role offers the opportunity to make a real difference, working in a supportive, forward-thinking school environment with modern facilities and a collaborative staff team.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons to KS3 & KS4 students, incorporating practical cooking, nutrition, food safety, and health-related education.

Prepare students for external assessments (e.g., GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition).
*
Maintain classroom management and ensure a safe practical environment.
*
Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching to meet diverse learner needs.
*
Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, and extracurricular opportunities (e.g., food clubs).
*
Collaborate with colleagues across the Design & Technology department and share good practice.
Person Specification / Ideal Candidate:
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
*
Strong subject knowledge in Food Technology and Nutrition.
*
Experience teaching, or the capability to teach, KS3 & KS4 (GCSE level).
*
Confidence in practical classroom environments, including food preparation areas.
*
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
*
A commitment to high standards of teaching and learning, and to supporting student achievement
