Overview
Part Time Cook – Leyland Court, Southend-on-Sea
Monday – Friday 9am to 2:30pm (27.5 hours per week)
Responsibilities
The role is to plan, prepare and cook a high-quality, nutritious lunchtime meal and dessert for the residents at Leyland Court, a sheltered service for 24 elderly residents in central Southend (free parking on site).
Develop relationships with residents, ensure meals are cooked in line with their wishes, and collaborate with residents to create menus. Residents enjoy themed dinner days, and homemade cakes are welcome back on the menu. There is flexibility on start and finish times as outlined.
Work in conjunction with the service’s scheme manager to provide nutritious meals, cater to individual dietary requirements and preferences, and uphold high standards of health, safety and cleanliness.
The cook will be responsible for maintaining meal quality and safety, including food hygiene and COSHH considerations, and may be required to use a computer for online training or to place online food orders.
Consultation and Teamwork
Demonstrate good communication skills, work as part of a team, and uphold the rights, privacy and dignity of people with disabilities.
Qualifications and Experience
Previous experience in a cooking or catering role is required. Knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations, and a food hygiene certificate (or willingness to work towards one) are essential. Previous care home/healthcare experience is desirable.
Must be able to demonstrate computer literacy for online training or ordering where applicable.
