Fixed Income ETrading Tech Overview
The evolution of electronic trading and automation has transformed the way fixed‑income products trade, demanding real‑time, low‑latency pricing, market‑making, and risk technology. Citi’s Fixed Income eTrading team builds high‑performance, low‑latency solutions that support the execution of billions of dollars in client trades each day, providing an exceptional and dependable trading experience.
Job Purpose
The Fixed Income Connectivity team globally supports connectivity and routing solutions to ECN platforms and clients using Direct FIX API connections and vendor APIs. This role contributes to building a next‑generation connectivity platform, maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and directly impacting business and technology outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop front‑office eTrading applications.
* Apply good design principles and adhere to complex design requirements.
* Develop reusable components and services using Citi’s best practices.
* Create high‑performance, low‑latency applications leveraging existing Citi frameworks.
* Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of core application components.
* Drive architecture and execute technical strategy, evolving the roadmap beyond near‑term objectives.
* Coordinate development with internal technology teams, traders, sales, and quants.
* Set engineering standards and innovate to improve platform capabilities, stability, flexibility, and maintainability.
* Troubleshoot performance and scalability issues.
* Assist in third‑line support during core trading hours, collaborating with e‑trading teams.
Knowledge and Experience
* Extensive hands‑on coding expertise in C++ and Core Java; multithreading and concurrency are essential. Exposure to systems programming languages such as Rust is a plus.
* Strong focus on system performance tuning and low‑latency programming techniques.
* Strong academic record, ideally with a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, engineering, or a related technical or quantitative discipline.
* Demonstrable success in designing and delivering complex applications.
* Solid understanding of software development fundamentals, data structures, design patterns, object‑oriented programming, architecture, algorithms, and problem‑solving skills.
* Experience with service architecture, high‑performance, low‑latency, and multithreading techniques.
* Experience developing market connectivity applications is highly desirable.
* Prior experience building e‑trading systems is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with financial products such as interest rates, spread products, FX, equities, or futures (e.g., bonds, interest‑rate swaps, repos) is highly desirable.
* Technical skills in Java, Spring, FIX, Aeron, Solace, Chronicle, TDD, BDD, KDB, REST, Gradle, Git, and Unix scripting.
