About the Commercial Team
The Commercial Team at Sunderland AFC is dedicated to driving the club’s growth beyond the pitch. We are a passionate group focused on forging meaningful partnerships, enhancing fan experiences, and maximising commercial opportunities through sponsorship, marketing, and merchandise.
With a diverse set of skills and backgrounds, our team collaborates closely with local businesses and global brands to create innovative solutions that benefit both the club and our community. Our mission is to build a sustainable future for Sunderland AFC while ensuring our fans feel valued every step of the way.
The Opportunity
The primary focus is to be out in the region seeking new business while keeping clients informed of availability, offers, and upsell opportunities. You will work to gain a comprehensive understanding of the target audience and prospects for your products, supported by daily client appointments and meetings designed to develop strong relationships and drive sales. This includes presenting the Club’s premium products and sponsorships, as well as selling concert hospitality.
You will contribute to overall team sales performance and targets by managing the full sales process, taking payment for bookings, and ensuring all customer records and accounts are accurately maintained within the CRM system. You will also record and manage customer bookings in line with Club expectations, while consistently following established standard operating procedures.
A key part of the role involves building strong internal relationships across all departments and supporting the Premium Sales Manager with ongoing business development and the delivery of sales initiatives. You will also be responsible for conducting relevant market research and analysis to identify key trends and gain deeper insight into the target market.
What We Ask For
Previous experience in sales, business development, account management, or hospitality is preferred, with a strong ability to generate new business and build client relationships. Excellent communication, organisational, and negotiation skills are essential, along with confidence presenting premium products and managing the full sales process.
The ideal candidate will be target-driven, proactive, and customer-focused, with experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate records. A good understanding of GDPR, flexibility to work matches and events, and a clean current driving licence are also required.
