Overview
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Cook to join a well-established Children's Centre in Camden. This is a rewarding role where you'll play a key part in supporting children's health and wellbeing through nutritious and inclusive meal preparation.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook daily meals and snacks, tailored to dietary, religious, and cultural requirements
* Order food supplies and manage stock rotation to minimise waste
* Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment in line with food hygiene and health & safety regulations
* Supervise the Kitchen Assistant and ensure smooth kitchen operations
* Collaborate with centre managers to plan weekly menus
* Keep records of purchases and monitor spending against budgets
* Open the centre daily and ensure kitchen equipment is operational
* Participate in staff meetings and training sessions when required
Requirements
* Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum)
* Prior experience in a similar role, ideally within early years or educational settings
* Good understanding of food safety, kitchen cleanliness, and health regulations
* Ability to prepare varied and nutritious meals on a large scale
* Comfortable working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
* Physically fit to handle lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
* Flexible and team-oriented, with excellent time management skills
