Learning Mentor – Horsham, West Sussex
We are looking for a committed and compassionate Learning Mentor to join a specialist SEN school based in Horsham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs and making a genuine difference to their lives.
Please note: Due to the school’s location and limited public transport links, candidates must be able to drive.
The Role:
As a Learning Mentor, you will provide tailored support to pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural, and academic guidance. You will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and engage positively within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver 1:1 and small-group mentoring to pupils with SEN
* Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement in learning
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals
* Help students develop social skills, resilience, and independence
* Monitor progress and contribute to support plans and reviews
* Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
About You:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN (such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties)
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Resilience and positivity when working in challenging situations
* Relevant qualifications or training are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
